This artwork was part of my solo exhibition Out of My Mind (October 2024), a deeply personal body of work exploring my lived experiences with mental health. This painting marked the beginning of my creative journey, both a release and a reckoning. In its early stages, I became absorbed in constructing intricate figures, obsessively layering fine details and textures. The process became both meditative and compulsive—an escape, but also a mirror. I was addicted to the tactility of the paint, the way it allowed me to build, deconstruct, and rebuild these inner worlds. This piece is a reflection of that obsession and the fragile balance between play and compulsion, between creation and control.
